Expertise & Training

Mr Charles Bain is a fully accredited U.K. trained Plastic Surgeon. He holds a substantive Consultant post at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, regularly voted the No.1 NHS hospital in the UK. In his private practice Charles offers a wide range of procedures at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, Dubai.

Charles studied at Bristol University, graduating with Honours in Medicine (First Class equivalent), and completed a BSc in medical ethics with First Class Honours. He then moved to London, where he undertook his plastic surgery training in prestigious London teaching hospitals (including Guys & St Thomas’s, Chelsea & Westminster and St Mary’s Paddington). He gained the Specialist Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery FRCS (Plast).

Fellowships

Charles went on to secure a nationally competitive aesthetic fellowship where he learned from internationally-renowned cosmetic surgeons at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London Clinic, Wellington Hospital, Cromwell Hospital and the King Edward VII.  He continued his fellowship training in world-class plastic surgery units in trauma reconstruction at Imperial College, London and internationally in hand and wrist surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He then returned to take up a consultant post in plastic surgery at Guys’ and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust before moving to Dubai.

Academic Work

Charles was awarded a Distinction for his Masters degree in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and has published book chapters and several scientific papers in the field of aesthetic surgery and hand surgery. He has also completed the Hand Surgery Diploma, the highest sub-specialty qualification in hand surgery.

Teaching and Charitable Activities

Charles has a keen interest in teaching and training the next generation of plastic surgeons in his NHS work. He is a plastic surgery teaching lead at St Thomas’s hospital, London, and is invited faculty on a number of plastic surgery training courses. He has travelled to Vietnam and India as a volunteer to share his medical expertise.

Memberships

Charles is a member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, and the British Surgical Society of the Hand. He is included in the Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery administered by the General Medical Council.
